As a chartered Town Planner, Simon has experience in regeneration, development and infrastructure delivery. Over the past 25 years he has worked for Local Partnerships, the Homes and Communities Agency, English Partnerships and Ashford Borough Council. Simon has been responsible for many Government projects and programmes including transport schemes, the Growth Areas Programme, Affordable Housing programme and Communities Infrastructure Fund. He has project managed the acquisition and delivery of a large number of development sites and associated transport infrastructure (the majority being former hospital and defence sites). Simon has been leading Local Partnerships work with LEPs.
Dr Jennifer Schooling was appointed Director of the Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction (CSIC), at the University of Cambridge, in April 2013. CSIC is an Innovation and Knowledge Centre (IKC) with the specific aim to transform infrastructure through smarter information.
CSIC brings together world-class engineering research, academic excellence and commercial industry to support the UK in becoming a world leader in the fields of sensing technology, asset management and smart city development.
Jennifer and her team work with more than 40 Industry Partners throughout the supply chain to develop commercial technologies, tools for data analysis and asset management, best practice guidance codes and specifications for scale-up and standardisation. CSIC also works with industry bodies including the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) and the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) to unite the industry in smart innovation.
